Bobbi Rise

After two decades of high-energy classroom teaching, Bobbi Rise embraced her next career as a district-wide school counselor. Because of her success with her students and her wide array of programming, she was invited to speak publicly on middle-school issues of substance-abuse prevention and anti-bullying. Bobbi currently lives in Tampa and continues to help others through her life coaching business.

Mary Sullivan Esseff

Mary Sullivan Esseff holds a degree in English Literature from Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia, PA, and a Ph.D. in Educational Technology from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Mary’s inspirational first novel, The Butterfly & The Snail, was published in 2013. She lives with her husband, Peter, in Tampa, FL.; they have three children and three grandchildren.

Nyla Jo Jones Hubbard

Nyla Jo Jones Hubbard, MT, ASCP, worked in the clinical laboratory as well as in other fields for more than forty years. When her children were grown, Ms. Hubbard went on to join Doctors Without Borders in Ethiopia in 2001 as a volunteer lab tech, setting up a new TB and malaria testing facility. Now retired, she volunteers in a domestic abuse facility and in involved with issues surrounding the homeless and the environment.

Allan Drake

Allan Drake has worked at a variety of careers. He joined the U.S. Navy after high school, worked as a Private Investigator, spent twenty-four years with a New Jersey power company and worked as a FEMA housing inspector. He now owns his own lawn business. At the age of seventy he had a recurring dream which compelled him to write the first of his five novels.

For Local Writers

The purpose of the local author collection is to support and encourage content creation, entrepreneurial achievement, and community prosperity, and to encourage local authors to meet and share their work and experiences.

Submissions are welcome from local authors that reside in the Tampa Bay area (Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Sarasota, Manatee or Polk County).

Be sure to take a look at the self-publishing resources in the library collection.

Print Book Submissions

  • Authors must submit a physical copy of their book for review along with an Local Author Submission form.
  • Please see the form for guidelines and more information about the process.

eBook Submissions

The following items are required for all local author e-book submissions:

  • A signed copy of the Supplier Agreement
  • A completed Author Worksheet
  • Two versions of your work's cover image (one full-size and one thumbnail)
  • A digital copy of the book itself, in EPUB or PDF format
