Gare Allen

Gare Allen studied metaphysics at The Metaphysical Academy of Tampa. Years of study inspired a series of short stories titled 7 Lessons: 7 Short Stories of Reincarnation. The author has written two books supporting his cause of animal welfare: Two’s Company, Three’s a Pack chronicles his life with three rescued dogs and their intriguing dynamic; The Dogs of Lost Angels is a heartwarming collection of adoption stories.

Karlin Housen

Karlin Housen, author, and her son Karryl Eugene, illustrator, are the founders of Brooklyn Publishing. The company’s first book series is titled Max the Blue Jay. All illustrations in their books are crafted by hand, made with love to show children the power of their words and communication with one another. Both were born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and now reside in Tampa.

Cynthia Jones

Cynthia Junious Jones has been passionate about writing since she was a child. She is retired from the former General Telephone (GTE)/Verizon Telecommunications, where she worked in positions in which writing was an essential responsibility. Unclaimed Lies is her first published book. A native of Tampa, Cynthia is a wife and mother of one son.

Martha Ann Winterroth

Martha Ann Winterroth received her degree in Library Science Education at Mississippi University for Women in 1974, and was a dedicated teacher for forty years in the Florida school system. She has made her home in Land O’ Lakes for forty-one years. Married since 1975 to her husband, Jim, they have raised four children and are blessed with three beautiful grandchildren.

Al Perrin is a Registered Nurse and free-lance author with six books and many magazine articles to his credit. He lives in Ruskin and has five children and seven grandchildren.

For Local Writers

The purpose of the local author collection is to support and encourage content creation, entrepreneurial achievement, and community prosperity, and to encourage local authors to meet and share their work and experiences.

Submissions are welcome from local authors that reside in the Tampa Bay area (Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Sarasota, Manatee or Polk County).

Be sure to take a look at the self-publishing resources in the library collection.

Print Book Submissions

  • Authors must submit a physical copy of their book for review along with an Local Author Submission form.
  • Please see the form for guidelines and more information about the process.

eBook Submissions

The following items are required for all local author e-book submissions:

  • A signed copy of the Supplier Agreement
  • A completed Author Worksheet
  • Two versions of your work's cover image (one full-size and one thumbnail)
  • A digital copy of the book itself, in EPUB or PDF format
