Join Adams as he recounts his experiences through photographs and comical antidotes.

Maxwell Taylor Courson

Maxwell Courson received two journalism degrees from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. degree in American studies from the University of Hawaii. He has worked as a print and broadcast journalist, in public information and also has taught mass communications. He is the author of numerous newspaper and magazine articles as well as the author of three books. Dr. Courson and his wife Naomi reside in Valrico, Florida.

Roslyn Franken

Through her acclaimed books and dynamic stage presentations, Roslyn Franken shares her parents’ life stories as two unlikely survivors of World War II, her personal insights from her cancer journey and the wisdom that has helped thousands achieve a healthier, happier and more resilient life. She has a Master’s degree in Human Systems Intervention from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada and coaching certification through the Professional School of Psychology in Sacramento, CA.

Nora Gallardo began writing articles for newspapers and organizational newsletters while teaching for the NYC Board of Education and taking creative writing, journalism and photojournalism classes. She is currently working on a short story series.

Lawrence Hoffman

Lawrence Hoffman retired as a detective from the NYPD in 2004 after serving 20 years in the department. His book Turning Blue: A Life Beneath the Shield allows the reader to walk alongside him through emotional and frightening experiences such as 9/11 as he completes the journey of Turning Blue. Lawrence currently resides in Pasco County with his wife Jeanette and continues to work in the public safety field in Hillsborough County.

Allen W. Smith

Allen W. Smith, Professor of Economics, Emeritus, Eastern Illinois University, has devoted much of his adult life to promoting economic education and battling economic illiteracy. For the past fifteen years, Smith has been researching and writing about Social Security finances. Dr. Smith is the author of nine books and has appeared on CNN, CNBC and more than 200 radio talk shows. He has a B.S. in Education degree from Ball State University and a Ph.D. degree in economics from Indiana University.

The purpose of the local author collection is to support and encourage content creation, entrepreneurial achievement, and community prosperity, and to encourage local authors to meet and share their work and experiences.

Submissions are welcome from local authors that reside in the Tampa Bay area (Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Sarasota, Manatee or Polk County).

Be sure to take a look at the self-publishing resources in the library collection.

Print Book Submissions

  • Authors must submit a physical copy of their book for review along with an Local Author Submission form.
  • Please see the form for guidelines and more information about the process.

eBook Submissions

The following items are required for all local author e-book submissions:

  • A signed copy of the Supplier Agreement
  • A completed Author Worksheet
  • Two versions of your work's cover image (one full-size and one thumbnail)
  • A digital copy of the book itself, in EPUB or PDF format
