Born to Read

Babies love books! Have you seen the excitement when a child hands you a book anxiously waiting for you to read to them? Have you ever seen the delight in a baby’s eye when a picture book is set before them? Babies love books from the time they are born. Raising a reader begins before your child learns to read! Children who are good readers perform better in school. But do not wait until your child is school age to encourage reading. Start now while your baby is young.

Imagination Library

Just imagine... a free book is mailed to your child every month until the age of five. Hillsborough County’s Imagination Library program is a joint initiative by the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, Healthy Start Coalition, Hillsborough County Department of Children’s Services, Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start, Hillsborough County Public Schools, Hillsborough County Public Libraries, United States Postal Services-Tampa and United Way of Tampa Bay.
