Government Documents

When you are looking for in-depth statistical data, tracking legislative or legal information, or following economic, social or scientific trends, the resources in the John F. Germany Public Library's government documents collections may be just what you need!

The collection is divided into three distinct segments:

United States Government Documents

The John F. Germany Library has been a federally designated depository for United States government documents since 1965. The collection of items includes publications from virtually every government agency in a variety of formats - print, microfiche, CD-ROM and electronic. Topics covered range from agriculture, defense, education, health and medicine, history, science and technology, to transportation. Some of the most popular resources provide economic or business and trade information, census data, legal materials, and IRS publications, including Reproducible Tax Forms from 1987 forward.

All documents received after 1998 (and select earlier ones) are listed in the Library Catalog. A growing number of these publications are provided in electronic format on the Internet as THPL moves toward a more electronic depository library. Simply click the links provided within the catalog records to access these publications.

Florida Documents

A wealth of information about the state of Florida, its government and issues that it faces are covered in the State Document Depository Collection. Publications from various administrative departments such as annual reports, budgets, magazines, statistical reports are included. The print versions of Florida Statutes and Laws of Florida are also available.

THPL has participated in the State Document Depository Library Program since its inception in 1967. All the materials received through this program are listed in the Library Catalog.

Local Documents

Local documents from Hillsborough County, the cities of Tampa, Temple Terrace and Plant City, as well as regional agencies such as the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, the Health Council and Port Authority are collected by THPL. All local documents are listed in the Catalog.

Public Inspections Documents shelved temporarily on the first floor of the East building, do not always appear in the catalog.
