The Science Library @ MOSI is designed primarily to meet the needs of Hillsborough County's citizens to have a core sciences collection. It is the result of a unique partnership between the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative and the Museum of Science and Industry. It is believed to be the only public library located inside a museum in the United States, and it is a "flagship" library within the system for innovative approaches to technology and customer service.

Teachers, students, homeschoolers, hobbyists and science enthusiasts of all ages can find science, math, computing information and science fiction in a variety of formats. In a "first" for the library system, CD-ROM programs, science equipment, such as microscopes, telescopes and science kits, are available for checkout.

Internet access and word processing is available as well. Informative videos are shelved throughout the library along side books organized by topic so that customers can easily choose materials in approriate media. Material to enhance science literacy in early education is also available.

The library houses the museum's Science Alcove, an artifact-based exhibit featuring "Discovery Drawers" filled with a variety of specimens, such as butterflies, fossils and minerals.

Special collections include Science Fiction, Science Fair Projects and Educator's Resources. The library offers a variety of programs for families and educators as well. Databases & Websites provides access to information on topics that complement science, math & technolgy. Call for dates and times to participate in special programs for science enthusiasts!
