What is AfroCon?

AfroCon is a celebration of diverse superheroes. This free family-friendly, all age event will highlight superheroes of color through crafts, a fan art contest, photo ops, movie showings, an escape room, gaming, a cosplay contest, and more.

When is AfroCon?

Saturday, March 30th 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Where do I park?

There is free parking on site as well as nearby overflow lots. Please see map.

How much does it cost to attend?

There is no fee to attend: all activities are FREE. The only costs will be if you choose to purchase items from vendor areas or food trucks.

Do I need to register?

The majority of activities do not require registration with the exception of the Cosplay Contest, Fan Art Contest, the Escape Room, the Artist Workshop, Wearables, and the Light Saber Battle. Registration for these events will be day of.

Is wearing a costume required?

No, it is not required, although everyone is welcome to do so.

Is there something at AfroCon for adults to enjoy?

Yes! We'll provide activities including an Artist Workshop, Escape Room, Soul Train Letter Scramble, gaming sessions, a Cosplay Contest, Fan Art Contest, and more. Browse our activities page to check out the events we have planned and come out to the ones that interest you.

What types of food will be available?

A local food truck will be available. Although AfroCon activities are free, guests will be responsible for their food purchases.

Will I like AfroCon if I don't know a lot about comics?

Yes! AfroCon is for everyone and we have plenty of activities appealing to kids and adults - even with only a little knowledge of comics.
