West Facade Improvements
This project is designed to beautify the library's exterior and make it more inviting for guests to traverse between the main library and the auditorium. The light package will be a highlight of the cityscape for years to come.
Scope
There will be two sails (sun shades) attached to the dome auditorium, extending over to poles that will be set next to the library building. This will provide visitors with a shady spot to rest or enjoy on the concrete deck between the library and the auditorium. The hope is that the sails will also be aesthetically pleasing.
The light package will be strung above the sails and will extend around the honeycomb design on the third floor of the building. This lighting package is designed to be controlled with a remote, allowing different shades of light to be projected at various times of the year, night, etc.
Interior Updates
Scope
The flooring in the center of the first floor of the building will be removed and replaced with a luxury vinyl tile product. This flooring will extend from the front entrance to the rear of the library and from side to side, but it will not include the children’s area or the main bookshelves in the adult section.
We will have two art showcase walls built to match the slatted wall art area on the second floor of the building. These walls will have a slightly curved design and will be used to showcase different art pieces throughout the year.
With this project, we will also increase accessibility to the first-floor restrooms and the auditorium (as well as the deck space, which the sails will provide shade to) by installing a permanent ramp adjoining the rear staircase that leads to the rear doors.
